Last weekend, the police hotline received reports from cyclists and other road users about a driver who was driving erratically on Highway 375 and causing real danger to road users.
According to reports, the driver was driving fast and at a certain point, while passing cyclists riding in the opposite lane, the driver suddenly swerved from his lane and almost hit them directly, continuing to drive wildly on a side road - and thus a serious disaster was only averted by a miracle.
Those who survived the horrific incident were Raz Weiss and Erez Abitbol, who told in an interview with 'Hadhasot Bokar' on Keshet 12: "He was driving downhill and stepped on the gas. It was on a turn, and the field was also blocked. All the conditions and mistakes were there so that if something happened, it would get out of control for him.".
Immediately upon receiving the reports, an investigation was opened, and with the guidance and investigation of observers from the Jerusalem District Control Center, the police were able to track down the driver.
This morning (Tuesday), the suspect, a resident of southern Israel in his 30s, was questioned, and at the end of the investigation, he was subjected to traffic police treatment and is expected to be indicted.
The police emphasize that "rogue driving can have fatal consequences. We will continue to act decisively, openly and covertly, to locate life-threatening drivers and ensure the safety of all road users.".
