Traveling in Tel Aviv by private car? Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai announced this morning (Tuesday) a dramatic move that will affect all road users in the city.

""You increased the traffic speed to 30 km/h throughout central Tel Aviv," Huldai said at the road safety conference held by the municipality. "We won't be able to reach 0 fatalities, but if we manage to reduce it by 5% each year - we have succeeded.".

According to a report on Channel 13, the fundamental change will occur on some streets in the coming month, when the entire center-west of the city - between Ibn Gabirol, Herbert Samuel, Nahal Hayarkon and Jaffa Road - will be limited in speed.

According to estimates presented at the conference, reducing speed will improve road safety in the city and reduce serious accidents in the city by 30%, and prevent approximately 50 serious injuries each year.

19 people were killed in traffic accidents in Tel Aviv in 2025 - five more deaths than in 2024.

12 of the fatalities were pedestrians and riders of non-motorized two-wheelers, such as bicycles, scooters and electric bikes. The slowdown in traffic speed began in Tel Aviv several years ago as part of the "Vision Zero" adopted by the municipality to reduce the number of fatal accidents in the city.

The recession is being carried out through enforcement, adding speed bumps, widening sidewalks, and narrowing the road.
