tragedy: Another death of a toddler who died today (Sunday) as a result of measles.

The Ministry of Health updated that the toddler, about one and a half years old, who was not vaccinated against measles, died due to complications of the disease, after arriving at the hospital in critical condition.

This is the tenth fatality since the measles outbreak began, with most cases being healthy infants without underlying diseases who were not vaccinated against the disease.

Among the areas currently defined as having an outbreak are: Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Harish, Modi'in Illit, Nof HaGalil, Kiryat Gat, Ashdod, Safed, Netivot, Haifa, Tiberias, the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, and the settlement of Tekoa.

In these places, you can reach the milk drop-off points, health insurance funds, and measles vaccination stations that were established to boost vaccination efforts, without making a prior appointment.

The North Medical Center (Poriya) announced: A one and a half year old baby from Tiberias arrived at the Emergency Medicine Department at the North Medical Center (Poriya) early this morning, in very serious condition, following respiratory symptoms related to measles.

During the morning, his condition deteriorated, and he was put on a ventilator and later resuscitation efforts were performed. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the medical teams, the doctors were forced to pronounce him dead.

Director of the Pediatric Department at the North Medical Center, Dr. Abuzid Said: ”Measles is an extremely dangerous and contagious disease, with severe immediate and late complications and even death. The disease can be prevented through a vaccine routinely given at the age of one, but due to the current outbreak, it is recommended to vaccinate even earlier, in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.“
