Justice Minister Yariv Levin today (Thursday) signed a letter of appointment for retired judge Yosef Ben Hamo, who will be appointed as temporary acting attorney general in handling the video case from the Yemeni Air Base.
The appointment took effect after Ben Hamo was hired as a civil servant, in accordance with the High Court's requirement.
According to the appointment letter, Ben Hamo will handle two central issues: the affair of the leak of the video from the Yemeni Field base and the offenses of obstruction and harm to legal and investigative proceedings that were allegedly committed as part of the affair.

The appointment is valid until the legal advisor to the government's prohibition on dealing with these matters is removed.
The petitioners against the appointment are asking the court for a stay of execution until the appointment takes effect, along with their request to hold an additional and expanded hearing on the High Court's fundamental decision - according to which the minister is authorized to appoint the person responsible for the investigation.
