The Journey in the Holy Land: The Satmar Rebbe arrived this afternoon (Tuesday) at the Ktav Sofer Synagogue in Jerusalem, where he delivered a speech - in the same place where previous Satmar Rebbes gave speeches.
At the end of his remarks, the Rebbe referred to the new conscription law that is currently being formulated.
""The army is like 'everyone who joins the army will not be returned,' anyone who enlists in the IDF leaves as a 'complete Gentile' - and this is a violation of religion," said the Rebbe. "And whoever agrees and suggests a compromise on this issue is abandoning thousands of Israeli souls to destruction, and this is a sin for which he will not be able to atone later.".
""Some people say that they want to save at least half of the Torah scholars, in the sense of 'Give me Yavneh and its sages.' But they must remember that Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai did not hand over the rest of the people who remained in Jerusalem to the Romans to kill them... He sought to save 'Yavneh and its sages,' without taking any action with his own hands.".
""Here, whoever raises his hand to vote for such a law, he is handing over tens of thousands of Israeli souls to be destroyed by his own hands, he is raising his hand against the Torah of Moses.".
The Rebbe added: "We must raise the cry of both Haredi Judaism in the Holy Land and Haredi Judaism abroad. May God have mercy on us and remove the evil government from the land, and then the terrible decree will be revoked. May God send us our righteous Messiah soon in our days, Amen.".
