Tragedy in Binyamin: 8-year-old Aviv killed by a passing bus in Givat Harel

Aviv Yacobson, aged eight, was killed this afternoon (Tuesday) as a result of being hit by a passing bus on the entrance route to the settlement of Givat Harel.

She is survived by her parents, brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held at 10:45 PM at the Aale Cemetery.

Rescue forces called to the scene were forced to declare her dead, after she was trapped under the vehicle and suffered severe multi-system injuries.

ZAKA volunteers from the Sha'ar District - Binyamin Area Team, took care of the scene with respect for the deceased and collected the findings.

Gil Bismut, commander of the ZAKA in the Shi'a District, and David Delfan, a volunteer with the ZAKA in the Shi'a District, who arrived at the scene, said: "This is a serious and painful accident on the main road in the town. The girl was trapped under the wheels of the bus and was critically injured. Unfortunately, MDA teams were forced to confirm her death. Together with the ZAKA volunteers in the Shi'a District, we are treating the scene with the sensitivity required to treat the deceased with dignity and collect the remains.".

Senior MDA paramedic Shaul Malka said: "When we arrived at the scene of the accident, we knew it was a shocking traffic accident. The pedestrian, a girl about 8 years old, was trapped under the bus. We began performing medical examinations, and noticed that she had no signs of life and was suffering from very severe multi-system trauma. Unfortunately, we were forced to declare her dead at the scene of the accident.".

The head of the Binyamin Council, Israel Gantz, expressed his condolences: "I share with great sorrow that in a serious car accident that occurred this afternoon at the entrance to the Givat Harel settlement, Aviv Yacobson, daughter of Hanna and David Yacobson, was killed. Hanna Yacobson, who leads the Binyamin Resilience Center with exceptional dedication and professionalism, accompanied many of us in the most complex moments. Today we stand by her and her family in this painful and unimaginable hour.
