Five Border Police officers were arrested this morning (Monday) by Border Patrol investigators on suspicion of accepting bribes in exchange for transferring illegal drugs to Israeli territory.
According to a report by Hadas Greenberg in Kan News, the police officers, who belong to the ultra-Orthodox service track, are suspected of having passed hundreds of shekels at checkpoints - including in Jerusalem - in exchange for tens of thousands of shekels.
According to suspicion, for each illegal resident, the police received hundreds of shekels in exchange for entry into Israeli territory.
Since this morning, the police have been investigating at the Police Investigations Department.
A statement from the Ministry of Interior stated:

The suspects were arrested following an undercover investigation that was opened following a report from the Border Guard. The investigation is a joint one between the Jerusalem team at the Border Police Headquarters and the Jerusalem Police Headquarters.
With their arrest and transition to the open phase, they are now being interrogated, among other things, on suspicion of accepting bribes and breach of trust, and will later be brought before the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for an extension of their detention. The investigation is ongoing.
