4 girls and a 40-year-old man were moderately and lightly injured in the collapse of an educational institution building in Beit Shemesh

A nine-year-old girl was moderately injured when the roof of a Haredi educational institution collapsed on Ben Azzai Street in Beit Shemesh. Three other 11-year-old girls and a 40-year-old man were slightly injured.

Rescue forces called to the scene treated the injured and evacuated them to Hadassah Ein Kerem and Shaarei Zedek hospitals.

The caravan that collapsed was used by special education students in ultra-Orthodox education, elementary school age.

Paramedic Nadav Taib said: "We received a call about a trailer that had collapsed in Beit Shemesh. Initially, we were told about a number of trapped people calling for help and their condition was unknown. We went to the scene with large forces that included intensive care units, ambulances and MDA emergency response vehicles.

""When we arrived at the scene, 4 girls were rescued, one of the girls had a moderate head injury. We provided her with medical treatment and evacuated her in an MDA intensive care unit to the hospital in stable condition. Additional MDA teams that were on the scene evacuated 3 girls who were slightly injured to the hospitals. This event is truly a miracle, it could have ended in tragedy.".

Simcha Lape, Yechiel Rosenberg and Asher Jungreiz, paramedics from United Hatzalah, said: "This is a school trailer that collapsed. We provided medical treatment at the scene to a 9-year-old girl who suffered a moderate head injury and to three girls who were slightly injured.".

Moishe Horwitz, a paramedic and ambulance driver for United Hatzalah, added: "I provided medical treatment and evacuated a 40-year-old man to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital who was slightly injured after being in a collapsed building.".

The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The police said: "Police officers from the Beit Shemesh station in the Jerusalem district recently began investigating the circumstances of the collapse of the roof of a building used as a kindergarten in the city. Immediately upon receiving the report of the incident, police forces were called to the scene and worked together with emergency and rescue forces.

""According to the report from medical officials, several injured people were treated at the scene and were later evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital with minor injuries. Police forces from the Beit Shemesh station are at the scene and are continuing to work to collect findings and investigate the circumstances of the incident.".
