The Israeli Mossad published an extraordinary photograph on social media today (Wednesday) showing the commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guards, Ismail Qaani, sitting in a closed room and having a conversation with a person whose identity has been blurred.
Alongside the photo, which was published by an account on the X network affiliated with the Mossad, which publishes tweets in Persian, was a message that resonated in Iran.
The tweet reads: "Remember when we promised to share with you more memories we have with Kaani and Sabri? Here's another picture that takes us back a few years. At the first meeting, he was a little shy and didn't even touch the tea. In the following meetings, the shyness disappeared, and he drank - and drank well. And not just tea.".
The tweet was accompanied by the image in question, which shows Qaani sitting in front of a figure whose identity is hidden. The context, writing style, and direct tagging of the Twitter account of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, make it clear that this is a deliberate move of public deterrence.
