Amit Segal, the senior political commentator for News 12, explains why the police suspect that the suicide threat of the ousted Chief Military Advocate, Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi, was an exercise and nothing more.

""She came to the police yesterday in a state described by people who saw her in a difficult mental state, and there are conflicting versions about that too. When she came out of the sea - her phone was not there. The police suspect that this was a fictitious suicide attempt - from beginning to end. For this purpose, they also questioned her husband. The suspicion is that he was involved in this event, in an attempt to organize this entire production that deprived every Israeli citizen of a heartbeat, with the aim of destroying the main evidence," Segal explained.

He added: "She admitted to all the facts of the affair. The penalty for concealing evidence and obstructing legal proceedings is five years in prison. This means that the details that were on the phone are not part of the same cover-up, obstruction and forgery that has already been exposed, and that they already bring much more than five years in prison.".

Segal stated: "They tried to portray the MP as Yitzhak Rabin. If the police are right, then she is more like Uncle Topaz.".

In addition, the commentator sharply criticized the conduct of the legal advisor to the government in the affair, and especially the fact that she is still involved in the investigation.

""The Chief Military Attorney is acting like a mafia here. Her phone didn't come back from the sea - and such a device is not just lost. This failure, which is an omission, was made possible by the legal advisor to the government, who let her move around freely, coordinate versions, have her phone with her and also lose it.".

""She will have to give an account because she has a clear conflict of interest. She pledged to the High Court that she would oversee this investigation. So how can it be that she and her people will have to give testimony - and on the other hand, she is ordered to collect testimony from herself.".
