United States President Donald Trump hinted tonight (Monday), in an interview he gave to the prestigious CBS program '60 Minutes', that he would intervene in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's trial - because "he is not being treated well.".

The president said: "I don't think he's being treated very well. He's on trial for a few things, and I don't think he's being treated well. I think that... you know, we're going to get involved in this to help him out a little bit, because I think it's very unfair.".

This is not the first time Trump has intervened in the prime minister's trial. In addition to several tweets in recent months, he directly addressed President Herzog during his historic speech in the Knesset on Simchat Torah Eve, asking him to pardon Netanyahu and end his trial: "I have an idea, Mr. President, why don't you pardon him?" He added: "Cigars and champagne? Who cares?""

Trump addressed his relationship with Netanyahu in the interview. "He's a wartime prime minister. I worked with him very well. Yes, I had to push him a little bit here and there. I think I did a great job pushing. He's a very talented guy. He's a person who was never really pushed. That's the kind of person I needed at that time.".

The president added that he did have to pressure Netanyahu to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza. "That's right, I pushed him. I didn't like certain things he did, and you saw what I did about that. I stopped too. You know, we completely destroyed Iran, and then it was time to stop – and we stopped.".
