Two doctors at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv contracted measles after treating an unvaccinated girl.

According to a statement issued this evening (Saturday night) by the Ministry of Health, the doctors are in isolation until the infectious period of the disease ends.

Since both are vaccinated, they contracted a mild illness.

Following the epidemiological examination, all people who were in contact with them received preventive treatment.

The full statement from the Ministry of Health reads: "The Ministry of Health is updating, following the previous statement, that another vaccinated doctor has tested positive for measles. This is an unusual event in which two doctors at Ichilov Hospital became infected after treating an unvaccinated girl who had measles.

""The doctors are in isolation until the infectious period of the disease ends and are in good condition. Since both are vaccinated, they contracted a mild illness. Following the epidemiological examination, all people who were in contact with them received preventive treatment.

""The examination conducted ruled out the suspicion that another medical staff member was sick. The Ministry of Health and Ichilov Hospital are conducting a comprehensive epidemiological investigation, and the incident is being monitored and examined.".

""The Ministry of Health once again calls on the public to get vaccinated, and reminds us that measles is a disease that can be prevented through an effective and safe vaccine.".
