Ceasefire violations in Gaza: Hamas terrorists opened anti-tank fire and sniping at IDF military vehicles in the Rafah area this evening (Tuesday).
There was an exchange of fire at the scene. The IDF attacked in response to the isolation of the area. Air Force planes flew over the city.
This is another violation by the murderous organization against Israel.
The Prime Minister's Office later announced: "Following the conclusion of the security consultations, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the military echelon to immediately carry out powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip.".
Defense Minister Israel Katz clarified this evening: "The Hamas terrorist organization will pay a heavy price for attacking IDF soldiers in Gaza and violating the agreement to return the fallen hostages. The attack on IDF soldiers today in Gaza by the Hamas terrorist organization is crossing a bright red line to which the IDF will respond with great force.".
""Protecting the safety and security of IDF soldiers is the number one mission in IDF operations in Gaza. Hamas will pay with compound interest for attacking the soldiers and violating the agreement to return the fallen hostages.".
In response, Hamas announced that due to what it described as "violations" on the part of Israel, it was canceling its plan to hand over this evening the body of another kidnapped victim that was located during the day.
The Hamas terrorist organization announced in an official statement: "Today we found the body of one of the occupation's prisoners during searches in one of the tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip, and its delivery, which was planned for today, was postponed due to the occupation's violations.
""We emphasize that any Zionist escalation will delay the search, excavation and recovery of bodies, which will result in a delay in the return of the bodies of the occupation's dead.".
Earlier today, Hamas' military wing announced that it intends to hand over to Israel this evening the body of a kidnapped person, which it said was located in one of the tunnels in the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas statement claimed that the spacecraft was "discovered a short time ago in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip.".
The announcement comes after it became clear that the body that was handed over to Israel last night, as part of a commitment to transfer one of the 13 fallen soldiers being held captive, does not belong to a new abductee, but rather to the remains of fallen soldier Ofir Tzarfati, whose body was recovered from the Gaza Strip about two years ago.
An examination conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir confirmed the identity of the findings.
