Brigadier General (Res.) Amir Avivi, former deputy commander of the Gaza Division, addressed the violations of the Hamas terrorist organization and Israel's restrained response in an interview with Oder Menashe on Channel 14 this morning (Tuesday).
He explained that behind the temporary calm stands a complex set of considerations, both security and political.
Avivi claimed that there are steps behind the scenes that are not known to the public: "Trump and Netanyahu are working simultaneously on the international force, in which there will be no Qataris or Turks - and also on regional peace agreements. Because everything is intertwined in this, everything is slower. It is being done step by step.".
According to him, the IDF also asked for time to organize itself for the next stage: "The Chief of Staff has long asked the government for time to work on the tanks, on the tools. After two years of fighting, the tools are worn out. They want to refresh the forces, consolidate the defense line.".
Avivi warned that Hamas is taking advantage of this period of time. "They are arming themselves and organizing. But the end is known in advance - the IDF will come in and dismantle them. There is no other scenario in my opinion. If an international force really comes in and does that, I will be the first to rejoice.".
He claims that Trump and Netanyahu are working under clear timetables ahead of the elections expected at the end of November.
""Both want to reach this stage when the critical mass of dismantling Hamas is already behind them, and with the beginning of a demilitarization in Gaza and after regional peace agreements. There will be no patience forever, if Hamas does not dismantle, it will happen by force.".
