Political commentator Amit Segal addressed the public debate this evening (Sunday) surrounding Israel's response to Hamas's violation of the ceasefire, after two Hamas fighters were killed by gunfire from the organization.
""I think a little differently," Segal wrote. "In a certain sense, continuing air strikes for a few more days is also a continuation of accepting the policy of rounds. The test is different and it is demilitarization. We will not achieve that from the air.".
According to him, there are two options: "The Americans say - the multinational force, plus our pressure and that of the Arab countries, will dismantle Hamas. Israel is more skeptical and prefers (actually according to the statements - everyone) IDF ground activity after the hostages return. Trump said that if Hamas does not overreact, he will give the green light to it.".
According to Segal, "Both options are good provided that the required achievement is achieved. You can give it time, but this is the ball and all eyes should be on it. This is a test for the supporters of 'everyone now' who promised that we would then eliminate Hamas, and also of course for the government and its supporters who proposed the same action in a different order. This will be the test for the State of Israel.".
