The US State Department informed the guarantor countries of the peace agreement with Gaza that credible reports have been received indicating Hamas's intention to carry out an attack against the residents of Gaza - a move that would be considered a serious violation of the ceasefire.
""This planned attack against Palestinian civilians would constitute a direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement and would undermine the significant progress achieved through mediation efforts. The Arabs demand that Hamas fulfill its obligations under the terms of the ceasefire," the statement said.
""If Hamas carries out the attack, steps will be taken to protect the residents of Gaza and maintain the integrity of the ceasefire.".
""The United States and the other Arab countries remain steadfast in their commitment to ensuring the safety of civilians, maintaining calm in the area, and promoting peace and prosperity for the people of Gaza and the entire region.".
Hamas responded to the US State Department's statement by denying the claims of an 'imminent attack' - and claiming that Israel is the one who armed criminal gangs that commit murder, kidnapping and looting.
An official statement from the terrorist organization stated: "The false American claims are in line with the misleading Israeli propaganda, and provide cover for its continued crimes. The gangs that Israel established and financed are the ones attacking the residents of Gaza. Furthermore, the facts on the ground show that Israel stole aid trucks and organized the robbery of Palestinian civilians.".
