In accordance with the directive of the Minister of Defense: Israel will mark a continuous yellow line in the Gaza Strip, which will distinguish between the areas under IDF control and the rest of the Strip.
The move is intended to alert Gaza residents and terrorists where the border line passes and to prevent infiltration into Israeli-controlled areas.
The IDF currently holds approximately 50 percent of the territory of the Gaza Strip, and the line will be physically and clearly marked by the army. The marking will be determined as a security and political separation line, which will mark the IDF's area of deployment within Gaza.
Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the move and emphasized Israel's policy toward infiltration attempts: "Any violation and attempt to cross the line will be met with fire.".
