
Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a field tour of the Gaza Strip today with the United States Envoy to the Middle East, Mr. Stephen "Steve" Witkoff, Mr. Jared Kushner and the Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, the Commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, the Head of the Planning Department, Maj. Gen. Eyal Harel and other commanders.
Afterwards, they visited the returnees' compound at the Re'im base and watched the IDF's preparations for absorbing the abductees.
Later, the CENTCOM commander and the Chief of Staff held a joint panel with senior IDF commanders in which they discussed the operational situation in the near and far theaters and the IDF's preparedness along the latest deployment lines in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the outline of the ceasefire agreement and the return of the hostages.
As part of the coordination efforts for follow-up plans in the Gaza Strip, the IDF is in continuous contact with the US Army Central Command (CENTCOM) to plan and implement the agreement, in a way that will allow for continued maintenance of the security of the State of Israel.
The IDF says that this meeting constitutes further reinforcement of the close strategic and operational ties between the IDF and the US military.
