
A 75-year-old man was killed today (Sunday) after falling from the balcony of his high-rise home on Binyamin Street in Rehovot - while he was building a sukkah.
Elchanan Roth, commander of ZAKA 360, said: "The unit's volunteers who were called to the scene were told by his neighbors that the deceased was building a sukkah on the balcony of his house, and fell from a great height.".
Roth added: "The medical teams called to the scene were forced to declare him dead at the scene due to the severe injuries he suffered. The unit's volunteers are working at the scene to preserve the dignity of the deceased and collect the findings.".
Israel Peretz, a medic and head of the Rehovot branch of United Hatzalah: "This is a very difficult scene. Passersby told us that the man fell while building a sukkah on the balcony. Unfortunately, due to the severe injuries he suffered, he was pronounced dead at the scene. United Hatzalah emergency teams are working at the scene.".
United Hatzalah and ZAKA remind the public that it is appropriate and recommended to take all precautions and safety measures when building a sukkah, in order to prevent unnecessary disasters.
