The government today (Sunday) unanimously approved the appointment of Tzachi Braverman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's chief of staff, to the position of Israel's ambassador to the United Kingdom.
The decision was submitted to the government for approval by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar after Braverman's candidacy for the position was examined and approved by the Civil Service Commission's Appointments Committee.
Among other things, it was written: "The committee was impressed that the candidate's political and public experience, which was accumulated in the framework of his public positions over the past decade, including his positions as Secretary of the Government and Chief of Staff, as well as his position as Deputy Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, which exposed him to working closely with high-ranking diplomatic staff in political meetings and official visits, allowed him to gain close and in-depth familiarity with complex international political procedures, and undoubtedly constitute special and exceptional skills for the candidate.".
During the government meeting, Foreign Minister Saar thanked Tzipi Hotovely, the outgoing ambassador, for her dedicated work.
Netanyahu said of the appointment: "We expect Tzachi to fight like Tzipi, and for Tzachi's replacement to be at least as pleasant as him. But we will part ways with them at the appropriate time.".
