Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced today (Friday) the expansion of the operation towards the occupation of Gaza City.

An evacuation notice was given to a high-rise building in Gaza City, in preparation for the expected attack - and some time later the building was attacked and collapsed.

""Now the bolt is being removed from the gates of hell in Gaza," Katz tweeted on his X account. "The first evacuation notice is being delivered to a high-rise terrorist building in Gaza City before an attack. When the door opens, it will not close and IDF activity will increase - until the Hamas murderers and rapists accept Israel's conditions for ending the war, primarily the release of all hostages and disarmament - or they will be destroyed.".

Amit Segal quoted a security source: "The Air Force is beginning a gradual operation to bring down high-rise buildings in Gaza City.".

Doron Kadosh, the military correspondent for Galei Tzahal: "This is the first time since the beginning of the war that the Minister of Defense himself has announced the evacuation of a high-rise building that will be attacked while it is empty of people, an action that was done hundreds if not thousands of times during the war.""

At the same time, the IDF distributed evacuation leaflets in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City, where the IDF is operating on the outskirts of the neighborhood.

The IDF spokesman's statement said that in preparation for the deepening of the attack on Hamas in Gaza City, the IDF, led by the Southern Command, conducted a comprehensive intelligence study and identified significant terrorist activity by the Hamas terrorist organization in a wide variety of infrastructure in Gaza City, particularly in high-rise buildings.

In accordance with Hamas's combat doctrine, the organization installed intelligence-gathering equipment, cameras, sniper and anti-tank firing positions in these buildings, and in some of them it even established observation posts and command and control complexes.

In addition, Hamas' underground infrastructure runs near these buildings, with the aim of enabling ambushes for IDF forces and possible escape routes from the headquarters established there.

The IDF also identified that Hamas had planted numerous explosive devices near several buildings in the Gaza Strip. These devices are intended to be remotely activated using intelligence devices installed on the buildings, with the aim of damaging IDF forces as they approach.

In the coming days, the IDF will carry out a targeted attack on terrorist infrastructures that pose a direct threat to IDF forces. Prior to the attack, many steps will be taken to minimize the chance of harming civilians - including targeted warnings, the use of precision weapons, aerial observations, and additional intelligence information.

The IDF spokesman later announced that, led by the Southern Command, a multi-story building used by Hamas in Gaza City was attacked. The building housed the terrorist organization's infrastructure, which was used to promote and carry out terrorist plots against IDF forces in the area.

According to the IDF, an underground infrastructure was established beneath the building, from which Hamas terrorists are launching terrorist attacks against IDF forces in the area. The infrastructure is used to carry out ambushes against IDF forces and as escape routes for terrorists.

""Before the attack, steps were taken to reduce the chance of harming civilians, including warning the population, using precision weapons, aerial observation, and additional intelligence information.".

"The terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip systematically violate international law, while cruelly exploiting civilian institutions and the population as human shields for terrorist acts.".
