Joe Biden, former US President, recently underwent surgery to remove cancerous cells from his skin, NBC reported last night.
The surgery, known as Mohs, is a common procedure for treating the most common types of skin cancer. The procedure removes layers of cancerous skin tissue until no more cancer cells remain - if the medical procedure is successful.
According to the report, the former president's spokesman said Biden is recovering well from the surgery.
It is not clear exactly when Biden underwent the surgery, but in late August he was photographed leaving a church in Greenville, Delaware, with a large, visible cut on his head.
The surgery came after Biden, 82, revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. His medical team described the disease as "aggressive but hormone-sensitive," indicating a good chance of responding to treatment.
Biden's physical and mental health were a topic of public debate during his presidency - but the left-wing media avoided discussing the issue.
After collapsing in the presidential debate with Trump in July 2024, he withdrew from the presidential race - after heavy pressure from senior Democratic Party officials.
