This evening (Tuesday) at 10:30 PM, the launch of the 'Ofek 19' satellite into space was successfully completed.
The launch was carried out using a 'Shavit' satellite launcher - from a test field in central Israel, under the management of the Space Directorate at the Israel Aerospace Industries, in cooperation with the IDF and the Israel Aerospace Industries.
Those hanging out on the beach documented the dramatic broadcast moment.
The 'Ofek 19' satellite is a radar observation satellite with advanced capabilities. After launch, the satellite will enter orbit around the Earth and undergo a series of tests to verify its integrity and performance level.
The security space program that was implemented includes the partnership of various IDF entities, including Unit 9900 in the Intelligence Division and the Air Force.
Israel Aerospace Industries developed and manufactured the satellite and launcher as the prime contractor for the project, in collaboration with the Missile and Space Systems Division, which led the project in collaboration with the Elta Division, which manufactured the payload, and the MLAM Plant, which led the development of the launcher, together with the Tomer and Rafael companies, which manufactured the launch rocket engines.
