In a month, a new section on the cost of issuing a visa to the United States will come into effect. It is a "visa completion" fee of $250.
Together with the fee, the visa to the United States will cost $442, one of the highest in the world.
The Reuters news agency reports that the number of visitors to the United States is declining, and last month there was a 3 percent decrease in foreign visitors to the United States.
International sporting events that are scheduled to take place next year and in about two years are expressing concern that the new cost will be an excess burden on tourists who are scheduled to participate in the events.
The Trump administration is promoting additional measures, such as shortening visas for students and journalists, and a new program that would require some visitors to post a bond of up to $15,000. These measures are in addition to President Trump's strict immigration policies and tariffs.
Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil, which have actually seen an increase in the number of visitors to the United States, are not yet on the list of visa-exempt countries. For them, the additional visa application fee may be more burdensome than countries in the visa waiver program.
