Yossi Yehoshua, the military commentator for Yedioth Ahronoth and the i24 channel, believes that last night's assassination in Gaza City of the Hamas spokesman is the most significant after Muhammad Deif and Yahya Sinwar.
In an interview with 'Voice of Barama' radio, Yehoshua said: "The elimination of Abu Ubayda is the most significant after Daf and Sinwar.".
His words indicate that he was the one who, in fact, initiated the protest in Israel: "He would watch the broadcasts and knew how to play on Israeli sentiment. If he manages to release a video of a kidnapper and bring tens of thousands to Kidnappers Square and put pressure on Israel - then it's worth many times more.".
The commentator noted that Abu Ubayda was "responsible for the starvation campaign.".
