Defense Minister Yisrael Katz attacked his critics this evening (Saturday night), claiming that these were "baseless slanders" from those he called "Jews who are cut off from contact and information.".
""How does the defamation system work and what is the reality on the ground?" the Defense Minister wrote on his X-network account. "They take all kinds of former people who are disconnected from contact and information and with outdated and irrelevant security understanding and 'military commentators' at the end of their careers, or just journalists on the sidelines, and plant in their mouths recitations, slogans and defamations that lack any basis against the Defense Minister.
""It doesn't make an impression and doesn't affect anyone anymore - because every time they predict and are wrong, and the public sees and ignores.".
Katz noted that since taking office, he has been leading a strong, proactive security policy with clear achievements in all sectors.
He said, "First and foremost, Operation 'Am Kalavi' against Iran. As Minister of Defense, I played a central role in formulating the IDF's objectives and capabilities in preparation for the attack: promoting the 'stand-in' capability for the arrival of Air Force aircraft in Tehran, the attack on nuclear facilities and missile production plants, Operation 'Red Wedding' to behead the senior military command, and the 'Tornado' plan for powerful strikes against regime targets in Tehran, and of course in making decisions alongside the Prime Minister.".
He added that he initiated the establishment of the security strip in Lebanon, even though it did not appear in the signed agreement, and noted that Minister Ron Dermer worked to validate the move with the Americans in coordination with him and the prime minister. He said, "I understood their necessity from my visits to the Lebanese territory.".
As for Syria, he revealed that "in accordance with my instructions, the IDF formulated a plan for entering Syria, which I presented to the cabinet in accordance with the Prime Minister's request - and I fought for its approval in the face of much opposition. And so, on the night of Assad's fall, the IDF entered Syria and took control of Mount Hermon and the security zone where the buffer zone was located - and in accordance with my instructions, it built permanent outposts and established its hold on the territory for a permanent stay.".
""At the same time, all the strategic capabilities of the Syrian army were thwarted in a comprehensive attack. Since then, the IDF has maintained a clear and powerful policy to defend the border and the Golan Heights, protect the Druze in Syria, and maintain southern Syria as a demilitarized zone.".
""Even if there are different opinions along the way, the IDF follows the conclusions and policies that I guide.".
In relation to Judea and Samaria, he claimed that he had changed the IDF's operational concept: "I instructed the IDF to change its approach and instead of the 'mowing the lawn' method - to occupy the refugee camps and evacuate the residents, while remaining permanently. The camps are empty of residents and terror, and the IDF and the Shin Bet are constantly pursuing the perpetrators of terror.".
According to Katz, this resulted in a decrease of nearly 801% in terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria.
As for Gaza, he emphasized his role in formulating the principles of Operations 'Strength and Sword' and 'Gideon's Chariots.' According to him, the operation included destroying terrorist infrastructure on an unprecedented scale, and maintaining control of 75% from the occupied territory. "We are now in the phase of formulating the plan to defeat Hamas in Gaza and return the hostages.".
The Minister of Defense concluded: "My role is to lead the defense establishment and the IDF in building the force and in using the force against the goals we face. That's what I did - and that's what I will continue to do in the future.".
