The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health warn that since last night (Monday), very high air pollution has been measured in the Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and Jordan Valley areas.
The measurements, which began at night, indicate abnormal concentrations of respirable particles.
According to the ministries, the cause of the phenomenon is increased cloudiness over Jordan, which causes gusts of wind and the transport of dust from the east into Israeli territory.
The situation is expected to continue as long as meteorological conditions exist, and the public is asked to stay informed via the 'Air Nearby' app and the Israel Air Monitoring website.
The Ministry of Health recommends that sensitive populations, including cardiovascular patients, lung patients, the elderly, pregnant women, and children, avoid strenuous physical activity outdoors.
The general population is also advised to reduce strenuous outdoor activity - until air quality improves.
Today there will be an increase in temperatures, and the heat wave will continue with heavy to extreme heat load across the country - and will accompany us until this Friday.
It is expected to be warmer inland and in the mountains, and near the sea, temperatures will be lower, but humidity levels will be high.
In addition to the high temperatures, cloudiness is forming east of Israel, accompanied by rain and thunder, and it is possible that this cloudiness will reach Israel's eastern border. Because of this, there is a chance of local rain in the east of the country and in the southern Negev region.
In the Mediterranean Sea, there will be comfortable conditions for swimming with waves up to 80 cm high.
The heat wave is expected to peak on Wednesday. Then, by the end of the week, temperatures will noticeably drop to below-normal temperatures for the season.
