Excitement in Samaria: 20 years after the expulsion, two years after the Knesset repealed the disengagement law, and months after the cabinet decision led by Minister Bezalel Smotrich to re-recognize Sha-Nur as a full-fledged settlement in the Samaria Regional Council, the core group of the return to Sha-Nur, consisting of families expelled from the settlement and young couples, arrived this morning (Thursday) to the settlement in northern Samaria for their first visit as a core group after the cabinet decision.

At the head of the incoming: Minister of Finance and Minister of Defense Bezalel Smotrich, who led the cabinet decision to re-establish Sha-Nur, and the head of the Samaria Council Yossi Dagan, who was expelled from Sha-Nur 20 years ago, and today serves as the head of the council and is a member with his family of the core of the return to the settlement.

The core of the deportees left the deportees' neighborhood in the Shavei Shomron settlement, and together they excitedly ascended to the paths of Sha-Nur, where they had lived until the deportation.

The members of the group held their first meeting in the ancient fortress building in the center of the settlement, after which they began cleaning up the piles of waste that the Arabs of the area had dumped there in recent years.

A special event was held on the ruins of the settlement throughout the morning, led by the Samaria Regional Council for the families of the deportees, after which the families met and heard an overview and words of congratulations from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and from Council Head Yossi Dagan, who, as mentioned, is a member of the return core himself.

Minister Bezalel Smotrich said: "The fight against deportation was very determined and we hoped to prevent this terrible folly, but we knew even then that even if, God forbid, the deportation took place, we would still return to all the places from which we were expelled. This is true in Gaza and certainly also true in Samaria. The settlements in northern Samaria that were abandoned, while on the ground, protected large parts of Sharon, and when we were expelled, they developed in the area hotbeds of terror that we have been dealing with with all our might over the past year.".

According to him, "The repeal of the Disengagement Law in the Knesset and the Cabinet's decision to establish fifty settlements, including the re-establishment of Shanor, is an expression of the people of Israel's trust in the settlers and an expression of immense appreciation for those who choose to dedicate their lives to settling our country.".

"I thank my friend, Council Chairman Yossi Dagan, for cooperation and joint work for the Land of Israel and the people of Israel. In the future, we will continue to settle our country and work to impose full sovereignty over all areas of our country.".

The head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, stated: "20 years after the injustice of the expulsion, we are privileged to be partners and take part in the correction. I was privileged to close a personal and national circle today, when for the first time we arrived as an organized nucleus of return, after the repeal of the Disengagement Law and a few months after the government's decision to recognize Shanur as a full-fledged settlement in the Samaria Regional Council, together with government representative Bezalel Smotrich and IDF forces, as representatives of the people of Israel in an official manner, and this time with the goal of returning - forever. The people of Israel returned to their land, and corrected the crime of expulsion.

"We have been fighting for twenty years since the moment of expulsion, and we swore that we would not be silent or rest, and that as long as we have breath in our nostrils, we will work to restore order and so that the Israeli flag can fly again. We arrived here today, and began to clean up and restore the settlement. We are here to return, and we will continue with all our might until we return and rebuild the settlement. We returned to Homesh, we will return to Ganim and Kadim, and we will also reach Gush Katif.".

At the end of his remarks, Yossi Dagan thanked Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who led the historic decision in the cabinet to re-recognize the settlements of Homesh and Sha-Nur.
