The chairman of the yeshivot committee, Rabbi Chaim Aharon Kaufman, expressed a tough stance in a closed-door conversation regarding the recruitment of Haredim.
In a recording published this evening (Wednesday) on Channel 13, Rabbi Kaufman is recorded saying in a conversation with the Gaon Rabbi Moshe Tzedaka, head of the Porat Yosef yeshiva in the Geula neighborhood, who expresses a strict and uncompromising line regarding the recruitment of Haredi men: "When Haredi members of Knesset ask us, we have one and only statement: every young man can study Torah.".
Regarding the Law of Attraction, he said: "There is no such thing in the world - neither percentages nor targets.".
Kaufman added: "The danger is greater for those who don't study - it's clear that they are not allowed to go to the army. Here it is, the yeshiva committee, so they are talking about yeshiva students, but those who don't study? Even more so. They are not allowed to go to the army. It's worse. There's no doubt about it.".
Regarding the "modern" Haredim, the chairman of the yeshiva committee said: "We should consider not accepting them into institutions, they are cooling.".
