A serious incident that occurred last night (Monday) at a yeshiva in the Har Nof neighborhood in Jerusalem and was circulated in recent hours on social media has caused a stir.
The video that was circulated shows American yeshiva students throwing a cat from a fifth-floor balcony, documenting the act - and encouraging one of their friends to throw the animal down.
The young men allegedly distributed the video in the yeshiva's WhatsApp groups.
In the neighborhood's WhatsApp group, the community police officer asked: "I would ask anyone who knows the individuals involved to contact me urgently so we can talk and understand. Otherwise, it will be too late for them."
Meanwhile, Jerusalem District police detained for questioning this afternoon two boys, who are in Israel as part of a summer camp, who are suspected of abusing and throwing the cat from a great height.
The police said: This morning, the police received footage published online in which a number of young people were observed on the balcony of a building in Jerusalem, during which an animal was allegedly thrown from a great height - to the joyous cries of those present.
Upon receiving the documentation, the police began tracking down those involved in the brutal act, and after a short time were able to locate the building and the suspects who were staying in the State of Israel as part of a 'summer camp'.
In cooperation with their superiors, two suspects, US citizens aged 16-17, were detained and taken to the police station for questioning.
