One of the workers who was attacked fired in self-defense. According to an Arab report, the shooting critically wounded one of the rioters.

The head of the Mount Hebron Regional Council, Eliram Azoulay, said: "We warned and demanded the creation of security spaces around the settlements, and today we saw with our own eyes the danger that illegal construction creates in the area. I demand that the enforcement authorities eradicate this dangerous phenomenon and take immediate action to enforce illegal construction around the settlements and roads for the safety of our residents."

The Carmel settlement said: "The settlement will not accept a reality in which a Jew is attacked! Certainly not within the settlement area! The incident here could have ended in the murder of a Jew if he had not defended himself. We call on the enforcement authorities to wake up and immediately remove any illegal construction that closes off the Carmel settlement and endangers lives."

The police said: The investigation by the Israel Police is currently in the early stages, and additional investigative actions are expected during the night.

IDF forces and police arrived at the scene of the incident. An Israeli citizen was detained at the scene and later the police arrested him for questioning.

In addition, four Palestinians were arrested by IDF fighters in connection with the incident, as well as two foreign tourists who were at the scene.

As a result of the incident, a Palestinian was confirmed dead, whose exact involvement in the incident is being investigated. As part of the investigation, police forces arrived at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

At the same time, another attack was reported:

Dozens of Arab rioters from the village of Malek attacked a shepherd from the Ma'ale Ahuvia farm in Binyamin, while he was grazing his flock of sheep in the pastures near the settlement of Kochav Hashahar.

The rioters, armed with clubs, set fire to the grazing areas and threw stones at him. The shepherd, who was miraculously unharmed, called the security forces, but so far no arrests have been reported - although according to the report, some of the attackers were visible and clearly documented.
