The elderly man was rescued from one of the apartments in the building that was hit by the missile by volunteers from Unit 360-ZAKA, who were immediately called to the scene and located him trapped under the rubble.
His funeral will take place today at the Grodsky Cemetery in Rehovot.
Elhanan Roth, commander of Unit 360-ZAKA, who commanded the unit's forces in the difficult scene, said: "This is a difficult day for me and for the volunteers. We rescued the wounded and trapped from heavy destruction, and from one of the apartments we heard the voice of the elderly man who was moderately injured.
"We approached the rubble and spoke to him to understand his condition, and then, with the assistance of additional forces, we rescued him from the rubble. Today we sadly received the news of his death."
The missile strike occurred on June 15, at around 3:00 AM, when Rehovot suffered two direct hits from a barrage of ballistic missiles fired from Iranian territory.
At the scene where the elderly man's home was hit, several residential buildings were destroyed and extensive damage was caused to buildings and shops within a range of hundreds of meters.
37 injured people were evacuated to hospitals from the incident, including two in serious condition, 12 in moderate condition, and 23 in mild condition.
About two weeks ago, Leah Mosquera, a 49-year-old Filipino caregiver, died from her wounds after being injured by an Iranian missile strike in Rehovot during Operation "With a Dog."
