As part of Transportation Minister Miri Regev's policy to connect all parts of the country, promote connectivity and create a quality transportation continuum between employment centers, residences and services - the Ministry of Transportation and Netivei Israel are embarking on a huge infrastructure project to upgrade Highway 44, on the route between Beit Dagan and Ramle.

After transferring a budget of one billion shekels from the Ministry of Finance to begin the work, the 'green light' was given for implementation on the ground.

The project, with a total investment of approximately 2 billion shekels, includes the construction of two new interchanges - the Beit Dagan Interchange and the Kfar Chabad Interchange, the elimination of existing intersections, the expansion of travel lanes, the development of a continuous public transportation route (MPT), the construction of a new bus terminal in Beit Dagan, bicycle paths and extensive landscape development.

For the residents of Kfar Chabad, this is significant transportation news: the project includes the construction of the Kfar Chabad interchange, which will be built at the entrance to the Hasidic settlement, which has thousands of residents - and will allow for a smooth and safe flow of traffic to and from the village.

The Israel Roads Company has recently completed the detailed planning phase, and now, after receiving the budget of one billion shekels from the Ministry of Finance, the project is being implemented.

Minister of Transportation: "Upgrading Highway 44 is another pillar in our strategic plan to connect the State of Israel, to create advanced, safe and accessible transportation arteries. We are putting the citizen at the center with more safe transportation and more connections between cities and towns, bringing the periphery closer to the center and enabling accessible and fast traffic."

Director General of the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, Moshe Ben-Zaken: "Minister Regev initiated a large-scale move to strengthen the social and physical periphery, and this is another significant step along the way. Highway 44 is a transportation backbone, upgrading it will provide a response to demographic growth and make traffic in the area flowing, safe and efficient."

Netivei Israel CEO Nissim Peretz: “Highway 44 is one of the main traffic arteries in the center of the country. The upgrade we are promoting will significantly improve traffic flow and strengthen the public transportation system, but first and foremost – will increase the level of safety for all road users. Establishing interchanges and traffic separations are life-saving actions that reduce risks and ensure a safer and more efficient driving experience.”
