Precedent decision: The story begins when a detainee, who is being held in Hadarim Prison until the end of the proceedings, on suspicion of involvement in a shooting incident, asked the Prison Service to attend the funeral of his mother, who died last week.

But the prison administration refused his request.

Fast track or regular track: will you decide how to receive your money?

According to a report this evening (Sunday) by Moshe Steinmetz, the i24 Channel's police affairs commentator, the detainee went to the District Court and when it seemed that the court was convinced by the Prison Service's arguments, the detainee's lawyer suggested allowing him to say goodbye to his mother at the hospital or bring her body to the prison.

The court accepted the idea and ordered the prison administration to allow the detainee's sisters to bring their mother's body to the prison, to bring it inside the walls - and to allow the detainee to say goodbye to his mother.

The Prison Service has already prepared to comply with the court's decision.

Prison service officials said they did not remember a case where a body was brought into the prison. In the end, the detainee himself gave up - and said goodbye to his mother's body via video call.
