Eitan Liel, director of the Prime Minister's aircraft, "Wing of Zion," was dismissed from his position after two years.
Fast track or regular track: will you decide how to receive your money?
According to a report in Kan News this evening (Sunday), sources in the Prime Minister's Office claimed that Liel clashed over financial expenses related to flights - and did not always agree on how to manage them with the new CEO, Drorit Steinmetz.
Another source involved in the details said that the Prime Minister's Office expressed "dissatisfaction" with Liel after his last flight to the United States, despite the fact that he had received praise and positive criticism from his managers over the past two years.
According to a report on Channel 13, Liel - a veteran pilot who won the tender to operate 'Zion Wing' after a long and tedious process - was called in for a conversation with the director general of the ministry, at the end of which he left his position.
The CEO, who is considered close to Prime Minister Netanyahu's wife, Sara, commented to Liel about his work, saying that his contract would not be extended.
"Among other things, you are expected to work to promote innovation on the plane," she told him at the conclusion of the meeting. "You work a lot in the area of safety and ignore the other needs of the plane."
The Prime Minister's Office did not provide an official response to the news.
