A week ago, an official at the 'Ali Sheakh' association, which assists and provides assistance to children and adults with disabilities and their families, complained that on Saturday - just a few days before the complaint was filed - the association's cupboards were broken into in one of the buildings in downtown Jerusalem.

The association's representative noted that from the broken-in cabinets, the burglar took shopping vouchers worth tens of thousands of shekels, and just moments before leaving the scene, the burglar threw his water into the room.

Following the report, investigators at the Lev HaBira police station began various operations, including tracking and scanning the defendant - whose actions were recorded on a security camera, and an arrest warrant was issued against him in court.

As part of the investigation and police operations, the defendant - a Jerusalem resident in his 30s - was located at the Jerusalem Central Bus Station, as he boarded a bus, and he was arrested with the assistance of Jerusalem District Police Officers.

After his arrest, he was taken for questioning at the Lev HaBira police station and his detention was extended in court.

Today (Thursday), an indictment was filed by the Jerusalem Police Prosecution Unit, which also includes two additional cases in which he was involved. The first of these occurred in October last year. At that time, the defendant broke into a seminar and entered one of the management offices, opened one of the drawers and took an envelope containing 21,000 NIS in cash and another envelope containing checks totaling approximately 18,000 NIS.

In another case, which occurred on May 3 in the morning, the defendant attempted to steal an electric scooter from the yard of a house. However, when he heard a noise from one of the apartments, he abandoned the scooter and fled.

An indictment that was filed, along with a request to order his arrest until the end of legal proceedings, includes the offenses of burglary, attempted theft, and theft.
