Following a threat to his life: Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri is under the highest level of security

Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri has been under security level 6 since last night - the highest level - following a real threat to his life.

According to a report by Almog Booker, security was assigned to the mayor, who wears a kippah, after security officials received information that there was a threat to harm him.

A gag order was imposed on the circumstances that led to the security decision, and it is not possible to specify at this stage the nature of the threat or its origin.

Security forces are working to eliminate the threat.

Level 6 personal security is intended for individuals who are in real danger of death and is granted only in exceptional cases. The security includes constant security escorts, traffic control, and scanning of the places where the protected person is staying.

The Ashdod municipality has not yet issued an official statement. No official comment has been received from the police either.
