Yaakov Wider, a member of the Bnei Brak City Council, today (Tuesday) appealed to the Ministry of the Interior with an urgent demand to enforce the law on the Bnei Brak municipality - and to oblige Mayor Hanoch Seibert to immediately convene a council meeting.

At the meeting, the mayor will be required to put to a vote Vider's proposals - to open municipal registration for a state-ultra-Orthodox institution in Bnei Brak and the puzzling closure of 'Beit Hanoch', as well as to discuss the issue of poor treatment of victims of the campaign against Iran, amid strong allegations from residents of corruption in municipal conduct.
At a council meeting held towards the end of last weekend, the mayor refused to put up for discussion and a vote two urgent proposals submitted by Yaakov Wider - even though they were at the top of the council's agenda, and even though the law requires him to do so.
Instead, the mayor chose to discuss only budget items that divert millions of shekels from the municipal budget, and then close the meeting.
Wieder responded at the end of the meeting: "The predatory conduct tramples on the law, the council members and the residents. I have no intention of giving up on the matter.".
Vider said today after his address: "I expect the Interior Ministry to act as required, without extraneous considerations, and to enforce the law on the Bnei Brak municipality and its officials.".
