Several weeks ago, the police completed the investigation of Tzachi Braverman, the chief of staff at the Prime Minister's Office, on suspicion of breach of trust for changing official protocol on the morning of October 7.
According to a report today (Sunday) on Channel B, the police have transferred the investigation file to the Attorney General's Office and the Legal Advisor to the Government. As of now, no decision has been made in the case.
Braverman was questioned in November 2024, after he was suspected of changing official minutes from October 7, 2023 without authority. It is suspected that Braverman approached the stenographer who had written the transcript of the conversation between the military secretary and the prime minister at 6:40 AM on the morning of the start of the war, and asked to change the time of the conversation to 6:29 AM.
After she refused to do so, he took the transcript himself, corrected the time, and demanded that she enter the corrected details. In his interrogation, Braverman claimed that this was a "correction of an error" in the protocol.
According to a police source, the findings of the investigation raise doubts about whether Braverman can be prosecuted for the offenses under investigation. However, the police have not made an official recommendation regarding the question of prosecuting him.
The Israel Police stated: "The investigation file has long been forwarded to the Attorney General's Office for review and decision. In accordance with legal provisions, we do not provide details regarding a recommendation or position.".
The Ministry of Justice did not respond to the news.
Last week, Kan News reported that the Prime Minister's Office is currently promoting Braverman's candidacy for the position of Israeli ambassador to Britain.
