Today (Monday), after the morning prayer at the Great Yeshiva Hall in the city of Kiryat Joel, the Satmar Rebbe, as is his custom, delivered a lesson in the Book of Psalms. The Rebbe began with a verse from chapter 26, verse 12: "My feet stand on level ground in the congregations, I bless the Lord."

He then said: "There is very difficult news coming from the Holy Land. The evil government has announced that they are sending over 50,000 orders for the conscription of yeshiva students, and they are going to set up checkpoints around all the Haredi cities, to stop those entering and leaving and to check who is not reporting to the conscription office. They have also announced that they will build hundreds of cells in prisons for the Haredi."

The Rebbe stated: "We want to inform the evil government that hundreds of cells in the prisons will not be enough for them. They will need thousands of cells for the thousands of yeshiva students who will not show up."

"We from here - from New York, can only strengthen the hands of the people who live in Zion. A terrible decree is probably waiting, a great tribulation for the yeshiva students and kollel elders. We don't know right now if this is really their intention to do this or if it is just a way to threaten the Haredi MKs so that they will agree to the new conscription law."

The Rebbe emphasized: "Everyone there is a liar and it could be that this is just another political spin, to get the rabbis' approval for the new law."

"King David says: 'My feet stand on a level ground' - we will stand on the path of the Torah and righteousness, 'in congregations I will bless the Lord' - we will continue to go to the yeshiva halls and kollels to bless the Lord. We went through nearly two thousand years of exile with many decrees that were harsh, it was difficult, but the whole of Israel will not lie and we will also get through this exile with the help of God."
