The construction of the power plant in Binyamin is gaining momentum: Energy Minister Eli Cohen, Binyamin Council Chairman Yisrael Gantz, and MK Nissim Vaturi, held a professional tour of the site where the power plant is expected to be built - in an industrial area initiated by the council in West Binyamin, near Rentis.
Minister Cohen was accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, along with council staff.
During the visit, the minister instructed the professional teams to advance the construction of the station as quickly as possible, because it is an important growth engine for Judea and Samaria in particular and for the State of Israel in general.
The power plant to be built in Binyamin will be the first plant in history to be built in Judea and Samaria.
Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen: "Establishing a power plant in Judea and Samaria is a strategic need for the energy sector in Israel. About half a million residents live in this area, so after fifty years this is a necessary step."
"The Binyamin Regional Council, headed by Yisrael Gantz, is doing an excellent job and is leading a national project here to establish a new industrial zone in the center of the country covering 2,000 dunams, and in this complex we will build a power plant. This will do historical justice, put Judea and Samaria on the map in the fields of energy and infrastructure, improve the lives of residents and energy security, and accelerate economic development in the region. I will continue to work for Judea, Samaria and Binyamin in all my roles."
The minister made it clear to the teams that he expects the project to progress as quickly as possible.
MK Nissim Vaturi, who heads the Committee for Oversight of the Gas Fund, announced that in the next two months he will hold a follow-up discussion on the issue in the committee he heads in the Knesset.
Head of the Binyamin Regional Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council Yisrael Gantz: "Thanks to this excellent government, and thanks to Energy Minister Eli Cohen and Committee Chairman Nissim Vaturi, who are true partners, Binyamin will be the front yard of national investments related to infrastructure and energy. This will improve the standard of living here and allow the State of Israel to enjoy the settlement space as an engine of economic and civic growth."
Chairman of the Committee for the Supervision of the Fund for Israeli Citizens, MK Nissim Vaturi: "Connecting the gas pipeline to Binyamin will lead to de facto sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, which is the inheritance of our ancestors."
"Israel Gantz, the head of the Binyamin Council and the chairman of the Yesha Council, and Energy Minister Eli Cohen, two bulldozers, people of action, together with them, will bring accelerated development throughout Judea and Samaria, with the connection of gas and the establishment of a power plant that will operate using gas energy. I am happy to be part of history that will bring significant progress in the development and connection of Judea and Samaria to Israel."
