Saeed Izadi, commander of the Palestine Corps in the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force, was assassinated this morning (Saturday) in the city of Qom, Iran.
In recent weeks, Izadi has been involved in operating Hamas and Islamic Jihad cells in Syria.
As commander of the Palestine Corps of the Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force, Izadi was responsible for providing funding and arms smuggling, as well as training and coaching Hamas and Islamic Jihad military operatives in the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria.
In addition, Izadi was responsible for coordinating between Hamas and Hezbollah, one of the founders of the Hamas branch in Lebanon, and responsible for recruiting Israeli citizens for espionage missions.
Izadi was one of the architects of the October 7 attack and one of the few who knew about it before it was carried out.
During the Iron Sword War, Izadi was also responsible for operating Hamas forces in Lebanon and worked to maintain Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip.
A senior intelligence official said that Izadi was "the worst figure in the ayatollahs' regime" and that he managed Iran's entire system of aid and control over regional terrorism.
According to him, the assassination was carried out based on accurate intelligence, as part of a broad effort to thwart the plans of Iran and its operatives against Israel.
According to a document released today by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center named after Maj. Gen. Meir Amit, Izadi was in charge of liaison with the main Palestinian organizations operating against Israel - Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad - and was a key figure in implementing the Iranian strategy to attack Israel through terrorist elements known as "the emissaries." He led Iranian efforts to transfer weapons, funding, and training to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said at the end of today's assessment of the situation: "Saeed Izadi was one of the secret partners in planning and carrying out the massacre on October 7th, and he has the blood of thousands of Israelis on his hands. He was the leader of the Iran-Hamas axis, and the confidant of Sinwar and Daf. This is a major intelligence and operational achievement by the Intelligence Branch and the Air Force."
"His elimination is one of the key points in the multi-sector war and makes the entire Middle East safer. There are no more cities of refuge in the Middle East."
Defense Minister Israel Katz said at the end of Shabbat: "Saeed Izadi, commander of the Palestine Corps of the Iranian Quds Force, who financed and armed Hamas in preparation for the October 7 massacre, was eliminated in an apartment in the heart of Qom. A huge achievement for Israeli intelligence and the Air Force."
