According to a report by political commentator Amit Segal, the senior official said: "Yuli Edelstein's political insistence is dragging us all into elections at a time of Operation Decisive Strike in Gaza, when the hostages are still with Hamas, and with the nuclear threat from Iran in the background.
"This is madness and complete irresponsibility - and it's all due to narrow political considerations and personal vendetta.".
Ma'an Samon, spokesman for MK Yuli Edelstein, responded to the report on his Twitter account: "If recruiting Haredim in the reality of a war on the home front, when my brothers are being worn out in the reserves, when their families are collapsing and when couples are getting divorced because they can't handle the burden of the reserves, is 'personal revenge' - then I am in favor of revenge.".
As you may recall, upon the formation of the government, the Prime Minister refused to appoint Yuli Edelstein as a minister and gave him the position of chairman of the prestigious Foreign Affairs and Security Committee.
