Fear of canceling the torch ceremony: Officials involved in the production of the ceremony said this morning (Wednesday) that they are awaiting further updates from forecasters later today in order to make a decision on holding the ceremony tonight.

According to a report on Channel 12, the current intention is to cancel the ceremony only if the winds on Mount Herzl are expected to strengthen to more than 70 km/h, in order to prevent a safety hazard.

According to the report, another opinion given by a private company was more severe than that of the Meteorological Service, and therefore a deadline was set: if no change occurs by 1:30 PM, the ceremony will be canceled.

Alongside the possible preparation for cancellation, all torchbearers have already been summoned to the ceremony site, so that they can participate in it in the event that it takes place as usual.

According to the forecast, the winds on Mount Herzl during the ceremony are not expected to exceed 70 km/h most of the time. However, there is a possibility that there will occasionally be slightly stronger gusts, in isolated places, during the ceremony and especially after it.

In the event that the ceremony cannot be held, the dress rehearsal filmed last night will be broadcast. It should be noted that some of the presenters, such as captivity survivor Eli Sharabi, who is scheduled to present the first torch, were not present at the rehearsal.
