Another significant upgrade in public transportation services is underway: Starting this weekend, a new public transportation line will be activated between Beit Shemesh and Lod, and at the same time, reinforcements to the active line from Beit Shemesh to Elad and Petah Tikva will come into effect - all as part of a comprehensive move led by Deputy Minister of Transportation Uri Maklev to improve public transportation accessibility.

Starting this Friday, a new line number 509 will be activated, connecting the city center of Beit Shemesh and the Ganei Ayalon (Achismech) neighborhood in Lod – one of the developing ultra-Orthodox concentrations in the Dan Bloc.

The line will operate on weekends – on Fridays and Saturday nights, with two trips in each direction, in response to the growing demand from families and young people moving between the communities in the two cities.

Alongside this, starting Sunday, line 408, which connects Beit Shemesh, Elad and Petah Tikva, will be reinforced with two additional trips per day in both directions - morning and evening - from Sunday to Thursday.

The decision to reinforce was made following repeated requests from passengers and residents to the office of Deputy Minister Uri Maklev, and following increasing congestion during peak hours.

Deputy Minister of Transportation Uri Maklev: "The current upgrade is the first step in a broad process to improve the service, with the aim of providing efficient, reliable and available public transportation to the entire public, while adapting to the unique needs that have emerged from the field. We are well aware of the existing shortcomings and are working to correct them - this action is just the beginning."

The Ministry of Transportation emphasizes that this is another step within the framework of a comprehensive plan to improve public transportation services entrusted to Ministry of Transportation Director General Moshe Ben Zaken, with additional upgrades expected in the future according to demand and needs that arise from the field.
