The Shufersal Group, which previously operated the 'Yashir L'Mehadrin' website for dedicated deliveries to the religious and ultra-Orthodox public, continues to operate in a sectoral manner - this time under a new umbrella called 'Wealth Gates'.
According to an investigation by Maayan Perati, the consumer reporter for News 12, the small chain, which is not mentioned on the group's official website, operates in ultra-Orthodox areas of Jerusalem and offers prices significantly lower than those of the other chains owned by Shufersal.
A network employee filmed on a hidden camera admitted: "This network belongs to Shufersal. I think because it is intended for the ultra-Orthodox, the prices here are very cheap."
According to the investigation, comparing prices reveals unusual gaps: For example, a Pink Crispy apple sold at Shaarei Recha for 4.9 shekels costs 17.9 shekels at Shufersal Deal, a chain branded as a discount store - a gap of 265%.
A test conducted by Moshe Dolev, developer of the CHP price comparison app, revealed that out of approximately 2,537 products tested, 2,093 were sold cheaper on the Haredi network.
245 of them are sold with a difference of 50% or more between the networks.
Against the backdrop of the net profit of 665 million shekels recorded by Israel's largest retail group last year, questions are being raised about Shufersal's inequality and its choice to increase profits only among certain sectors.
Shufersal's response to News 12: The Shufersal Group provides solutions in various retail formats, which differ in operating costs, product variety and types, operational focus, and service experience. All of the group's branches are open to everyone. The group works to offer attractive promotions at all branches for the benefit of all customers.
