A statue of former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion was stolen yesterday (Sunday) from a hotel on King Saul Street in Tel Aviv. Police arrested a 23-year-old Herzliya resident on suspicion of theft, and returned the statue to the hotel.

The arrest was made after the police received a report early yesterday morning about the theft of the statue from the hotel lobby in Tel Aviv.

An initial police investigation revealed that the theft was committed when the suspect left the hotel where he was staying.

Through rapid investigative actions, the police were able to trace the identity of the suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Herzliya. Upon arrival at his home, they began a search and found the statue in the yard, covered with a towel.

The suspect was taken for questioning on suspicion of theft and causing damage to the hotel facilities.
