Former minister, MK Itamar Ben-Gvir, estimated this morning (Wednesday) that if President Trump's statements about transfers in the Gaza Strip come true, it is possible that his party will return to being a member of the government.
In an interview with Sharon Gal on Gali Israel radio, Ben Gvir said: "I haven't sewn a new ministerial suit yet, but there is no doubt that the chances of Otzma Yehudit returning to the government have increased.".
He added: "The ball is now in the Prime Minister's hands, if he implements it - I'm fully behind him. As soon as we start and there is an intention to implement - I'll come back. I don't want to expand on the talk, there are already plans.".
Minister Smotrich scolded Ben Gvir after he said this morning that he was considering returning to the government: "I didn't understand what he was trying to achieve."
Minister Bezalel Smotrich 'stung' Ben Gvir in a conversation with 'Fatachi and Zimri Ba'am' on 'Gale Yisrael' radio: "My only justification for remaining in the government is to make sure that things will happen and also because I estimated that certain things will happen. We need to preserve this government, because there are golden opportunities ahead of us that concern the future of the State of Israel.".
He added: "I never said 42 days as a deadline, I'm part of the process though. Part of the reason Netanyahu said those things is also because of my involvement, that's how a government works.".
Zimri: Is the annexation of Judea and Samaria something that could happen under the current administration?
Smotrich: "We must kill the idea of the Palestinian state and the way to do this is through annexation and sovereignty. We do not have a mandate to give up the application of sovereignty and Netanyahu must do it.".
Zimri: This morning Ben Gvir said he was considering returning to the government, do you congratulate him?
Smotrich: "I don't want to get involved in politics this morning. There was no need to shock the government at such a historic time. I didn't understand what he was trying to achieve with this round...""
President Trump said during a press conference with the Prime Minister that "the United States will take control of the Gaza Strip. We will ensure that all dangerous bombs are removed, we will evacuate the destroyed buildings, and we will create economic development that will provide an unlimited number of jobs and housing for the people of the region.".
Regarding the ceasefire and the hostage deal, he said: "I can't tell you whether the ceasefire will last. We managed to release many hostages. We will release more, but we are dealing with very complicated people. We hope the agreement will last.".
