Safaa Kayit was killed this evening (Monday) by a direct hit from a rocket on a building in Shfaram. Kayit was initially declared critically injured, but was later declared dead. Another 41-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child were seriously injured. 30 additional people were hospitalized at Rambam. The commander of the first forces that arrived at the scene, Reshef Iyad Hanifas, said: "This is a 3-story building that suffered a direct hit and there was a lot of destruction at the scene. Firefighters entered the building and after searching, located her trapped in the rubble and immediately worked to rescue her for medical personnel who pronounced her dead at the scene. Several other animals were rescued from the scene." MDA emergency medical technician Hamza Abu al-Hija said: "We quickly arrived at the scene and began scanning the building. On the top floor we saw a woman about 50 years old with multiple system injuries. She was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, and we were forced to declare her dead at the scene. On the first floors of the building, and in nearby buildings, we scanned and located about 10 lightly injured people who walked and exited the buildings for further examinations and treatment by MDA teams. All were evacuated to the hospital, with their condition described as mild." [Gallery]
