The Staten Island Watch organization in New York reported the arrest of two suspects who were filmed throwing a kippah off the head of a Haredi man crossing the street. Their arrest led to a surprising revelation: the two were wanted for a series of crimes, including a stabbing. The arrest was made after the two, riding a motorcycle, attacked a Haredi passerby crossing the street last week, and quickly fled the scene after their offensive behavior. However, security cameras recorded the attack - and the video with the attackers' faces was distributed on social media, with a call for help in identifying the attackers. "Help us catch these people. They are wanted for the heinous act of throwing a kippah off the head of a Jew," the statement said. The Watch called on anyone with information to contact the NYPD's 121st Precinct Detective Unit or the Watch hotline. The turning point in the case came on Friday, when a woman called the "Guards" organization at around 1:15 p.m. and gave a critical "tip": her son, who was on the promenade, identified two people who matched the description of the suspects. The "Guards" passed the information on to the police and large forces quickly arrived at the scene, surrounded the area within minutes, and around 1:30 p.m. the two were arrested. The investigation revealed, as mentioned, that these were criminals wanted for additional crimes, including stabbing - in addition to the hate crime directed against the Jew.
